Hi, again. I’m Bill Jones.
I’ve been involved in music since childhood, and I can’t imagine my life without it. I have a master’s degree in Piano Performance, and years of experience as an instructor for students of all levels. I have taught piano both privately, and as a faculty member of music schools in Cleveland, Philadelphia, and New York. My professional experience as a musician extends into solo and chamber playing, vocal and instrumental accompaniment, vocal coaching, and accompaniment for ballet and modern dance.
Teaching piano gives me so much satisfaction as a musician! That’s why I started LivePianoLessonsOnline.com. I am a ‘true believer’ in the joy of music making, and in its power to change lives. I am convinced music study can help build happy, well-rounded, thoughtful individuals.
I have a few core beliefs about what piano lessons should offer:
- I think students should have the opportunity to experience a broad range of musical styles in their lessons, so we’ll work on pieces drawn from classical, jazz, blues, pop, folk, rock, and other traditions.
- There’s more than one way to learn music! I want my students to learn to read it, write it, play it by ear, and improvise it, too.
- Music theory helps students, of every level, understand the music they play. I introduce concepts in music theory alongside new songs as they’re being learned.
- Building good habits at the keyboard allows for greater freedom while playing. That’s why I teach elements of technique at every lesson.
